The world famous BMW Museum in Munich has been officially re-opened
following a two and a half year re-building & extension program.
I’ve always found visits to the previous BMW Museum to be worthwhile and certainly worth a detour if you happen to be in the area.
The exhibits are regularly rotated to ensure fresh displays for regular visitors and the BMW Motorrad section is extensive.
BMW Museum re-opens to the public on Saturday 21st June 2008 and their new website may be found here.
PS: I managed an early visit to the new BMW Museum in July 2008.

Today’s ride out was to re-visit another favorite route of mine through the Scottish Borders to the Kielder Forest area.
Leaving Edinburgh behind me before 7am, I headed down a deserted A7 through Hawick towards Langholm.
Just before the 30mph restriction entering Langholm there is a minor left turn onto a single track unclassified road towards Newcastleton & beyond.
At the top of the first ascent there is a modern sculpture & memorial to local poet, Hugh MacDiarmid.
It’s worth pausing here for a few moments as the views, especially back towards the west, are simply stunning.
I carried on heading east through Kielder & Bellingham, following minor roads all the way to Rothbury near Alnwick before taking the A697 & more minor roads back to Edinburgh.
A really great day’s biking, covering 233 miles on very quiet roads and taking enough time to take a few photographs.

Gina & I took ‘Big Saffy’ for a wee run through the Scottish Borders yesterday.
We made an early start in warm sunshine and headed for a mid-morning stop at Broughton via Kirkliston & Carnwath.
Fueled with bacon rolls & coffee we headed onwards through Moffat to St Mary’s Loch for an early lunch during which the heavens opened and ensured a thorough soaking on the run back to Edinburgh.
The RT is at it’s best two-up and our 170 mile trip yesterday certainly confirmed that, despite the poor weather for the last hour or so. Route & images here.
